In Melbourne, Australia there are several social clubs for people involved in the Entertainment Industry. As President of one of the clubs, Vice-President of another and an occasional attendee of some of the others I have noticed that the meetings have become a sit down “shut—up” show. Attempts to converse with friends are met with glares and strange hissing noises, normally heard in school classrooms, and administered by a cranky school teacher desperate to maintain order. When at last the night of, at times tedious “entertainment” has dragged to an end a quick cuddle or wave and a promise of “hope we can have a chat sometime” can be heard as friends disperse for another month. Their passion for gossip or even basic interaction unfulfilled.
It is for this reason I have started “Dinner with Don” a social get together for all people involved in show business. This is Dinner Only ! Entertainment is NOT on the menu ! Please leave your Instruments at home!
Dinner with Don is held during the first week of every month in restaurants around Melbourne The venue will be announced at least 2 weeks prior to the day. It may take place at day time or in the evening. I intend to rotate this as some people are unavailable daytimes.
Dinner with Don is not a club, there is no meeting it is just Dinner. If you want to come along you must be a member of any industry related club or organization or currently working in the media. Guests are responsible for their own food payments and bookings.
